Getting Started

One of the first things you will notice when you visit North Dallas IVF is how welcoming our office is and how positively you are treated by our staff. We understand how important compassionate and caring service can be, especially when you are going through a stressful time. When selecting an infertility specialist and clinic, we encourage you to ask for a tour. Taking a tour of our facility will give you an opportunity to see the treatment areas and staff so you can feel comfortable each time you are with us.

What to Expect at Your New Patient Visit

During your initial visit, or consultation, you will meet with Dr. Patel to discuss your history, any previous treatments, and difficulties you have experienced in getting pregnant. The initial history and exam can help guide the appropriate diagnostic tests that may be needed. Once initial tests are completed, we will schedule a follow-up visit with you to discuss the results and decide on the most appropriate treatment. Once a treatment plan has been decided, you will meet with the nursing staff to start coordinating your treatment. Specialized classes will be arranged to educate you regarding the IVF process, including injection training, egg class and PGD class. We believe in educating the couple to the fullest extent, which allows you to play an active role in the medical decision-making process.

  • Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your scheduled new patient appointment time to complete your paperwork.
  • We strongly believe in the “couple centric” approach and encourage you to bring your spouse or partner to the initial visit. This approach gives them the opportunity to ask questions and gain a better understanding of potential treatment plans.
  • Please remember to bring any relevant medical records with you, including hSG X-ray films and pertinent surgical pictures.
  • Please bring all of your prescription medication bottles so we can confirm your medication dosages.
  • We will first obtain your vital signs, height and weight. Subsequently, a comprehensive, detailed medical history for both partners will be obtained, including an assessment of family and genetic histories. If you or your partner are uncertain about your family’s medical history, please feel free to contact other family members prior to your visit to obtain any information about any potential genetically inherited disorders.
  • At the completion of your visit, the initial diagnostic work-up will be outlined for you in an effort to determine the cause of your infertility. Once the etiology of the infertility is determined, your consulting physician will put you in the hands of a highly trained and skilled staff of nurses to start you on your course of treatment. Your nurse coordinator will serve as an invaluable resource to help educate and guide you through prescribed treatment plans. We understand that the infertility process can be overwhelming at times. We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions regarding your treatment cycle.
  • As part of your new patient consultation, we will also introduce you to our financial counselor in order to discuss insurance coverage and fees for services.
